Help native fauna and do a bit less raking this fall by leaving your leaves.
As you can see from this illustration posted by Serendipity on Facebook (accessed 2024, Sept. 8) many valuable creatures live in leaf litter. If you rake or blow leaves to the curb, you've blown away their winter quarters and futures.
If you need to tidy up or are worried about killing grass, gently rake leaves to a "wild" area to give garden denizens a chance.
